Have you heard of intuitive eating? It’s not easy and requires a lot of discipline, but it’s worth it.
The words “intuitive eating” sound like common sense, doesn’t it? Just simply eat when you’re hungry, and don’t eat when you’re not hungry. Right? No. You’ll be faced with temptations and cravings, and you’ll need to figure out what is okay for you.
However, although it may be difficult to get started, intuitive eating is beneficial to achieve the well-being we all seek.
Just remember the main principles:
- Reject the Diet Mentality: Throw out all diet books and magazine articles!
- Honor Your Hunger: Try to eat on a schedule…when you’re hungry.
- Make Peace With Food: Give yourself permission to eat what you want.
- Challenge the Food Police: You’re not good or bad for eating a certain number of calories!
- Respect Your Fullness: Don’t over-eat.
- Discover the Satisfaction Factor: Feel pleasure and satisfaction from eating.
- Honor Your Feelings Without Using Food: Find ways to comfort, nurture, distract and resolve your issues without using food.
- Respect Your Body: Don’t be overly critical about your body shape. Learn to love what you got!
- Exercise!: Don’t exercise because you HAVE to. Exercise because you WANT to.
- Honor Your Health: Choose food that honor your health and taste buds, while making you feel well.
