Thinspo is the trend that promotes eating disorders. This is most often facilitated due to a desire to fit into societies definition of “beautiful”. The images portrayed on pro-ana and pro-mia websites are highly unhealthy and encourage women to be stick thin.
This video is of a report that exposes pro-ana and pro-mia websites that promote thinspiration. (Caution: it does contain some shocking images)
This is a trend that needs to end immediately.

By following this blog, I am making a promise.
- I promise that this is the first step in loving myself, all myself.
- I promise never to insult someone else merely for their appearance, everyone is different, everyone is beautiful in their own way.
- I promise to stop insulting myself, to stop…

Having a healthy body image is one of the most important things you can do to maintain a healthy mindset. The bottom line is you must accept yourself for the person you are.
This is not an easy task, especially when we are bombarded by the media that pushes unhealthy ideals of beauty in our minds. It is easy to get discouraged, but there are a few tips you should remember.
To change your self image you should,
1.) Accept yourself. Only allow yourself to say positive things about you and your body. You are beautiful and you should love yourself!
2.) Do not compare yourself to others. Humans come in all shapes and sizes, and it is pointless to judge your body to someone else. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, so make the most of what you have!
3.) Accept others. When you are harsh on others, you tend to be more harsh on yourself. Learn to see the beauty in every individual, and even start to compliment others.
4.) Ask for help! If you’re struggling with body image issues, then definitely seek out a support system.
Models are getting younger and younger. It seems that the best way to be close to perfection is to remain a preteen. This is only more proof that the media’s portrayal of ideal beauty for women is completely unrealistic.
